About the Opportunities 

Currently, we have an exciting opportunity for two Certified Sprinkler Fitters to join our team based in Brucejack Mine on a full-time basis for a contract of approximately two months. During this time you'll work a rotating shift of 19 days on and 7 days off with 2 travel days included. Brucejack Mine itself is in Northwestern BC and is located approximately 65 kilometres from Stewart. 

Reporting to the Camp Maintenance Supervisor, as our Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter you will ensure that all sprinkler systems are installed in compliance with specifications and in accordance with the project permits, policies, standards, and environmental requirements. 

More specifically your responsibilities will include:

  • Laying out, installing, inspecting, and testing fire protection sprinkler systems.
  • Reading and interpreting engineered drawings.
  • Installing clamps, brackets, and hangers to support piping systems, sprinklers, and fire protection equipment using hand and power tools. 
  • Installing valves, alarms, and associated equipment. 
  • Joining pipes and piping sections using associated equipment.
  • Testing the system for leaks using testing equipment. 
  • Selecting the type and size of pipe required.
  • Cutting openings for pipes in walls, floors, and ceilings using hand/power tools or machines. 
  • Measuring, cutting, threading, and bending pipes to required shapes and sizes. 
  • Connecting piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors, and control equipment. 
  • Installing sprinkler heads and mount prepared pipes in supports. 

In order to qualify for this role, you will either be a fourth-year sprinkler fitter apprentice or have a valid red seal sprinkler fitter certification, while also having at least three years of industrial sprinkler installation experience. A valid Class 5 driver's license is also required as is certification in both workplace hazardous materials information systems (WHMIS) and transportation of dangerous goods (TDG).

As our ideal candidate for this role, you'll comfortably be able to lift and move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift while maintaining high levels of performance during the course of 12-hour shifts. Previous experience working in a remote site will serve you well in this role as will knowledge of regulations regarding business codes and knowledge of safety procedures within the construction field.
