Pretivm is creating value through gold, producing 376,012 oz Au in 2018 at the 100% owned Brucejack Mine and firmly establishing the company as an Intermediate Producer.  The Brucejack Mine is a high-grade gold underground mine located in northwestern British Columbia, approximately 65 kilometers north of Stewart.  In 2018, Pretivm received amended permits to increase production by 40% to 3,800 tpd.

An updated Mineral Reserve and Resource Estimate outlines Proven and Probable Reserves in Brucejack’s Valley of the Kings of 6.4 million ounces of gold (16 million tonnes grading 12.6 grams per tonne).  At $1,300 gold, Brucejack now has an estimated after-tax net present value at a 5% discount rate of $2.59 billion over a 14-year mine life.

About the Opportunity  

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Journeyman Instrumentation Technician to join the Brucejack Project in Northwestern, British Columbia

Located approximately 65 kilometers from Stewart, you will report to the Mill Maintenance Superintendent or designate, and work a rotating schedule encompassing 14 days on, 12 days off

Job Purpose and Accountability

The Instrumentation Technician primary responsibility is to install, program and work with site personnel to ensure the mill processing facility is maintained.  This would include but not limited to DCS programming, field instrumentation and repair components that are key to the mill processing facility. To help in the development of SWPs (Safe work Procedures) and development of PM program, as well as all tasks assigned by mill maintenance superintendent or his designate.

Responsibilities

You will perform the following duties, with safety being the number one priority:

  • Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority
  • Responsible for overseeing/troubleshooting the instrumentation work in support of mill/underground and related facility maintenance.
  • Consult and liaise with the maintenance and operations to set priorities on Instrumentation issues or improvements.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in a safe manner in compliance with Electrical Codes, Pretivm’s Health & Safety policies and Mines act regulations.
  • Identify, develop and implement instrumentation initiatives that will be improvements to mill availabilities, costs or reliability.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOP’s) to ensure tasks are performed in a safe and consistent manner.
  • Keep abreast of advances in technology in the instrumentation fields and seek opportunities to apply them where appropriate.
  • Research, select and work with planners purchase suitable instrumentation components/controls and ensure warehouse is stocked with appropriate replacement parts to ensure continuous, uninterrupted service.
  • Apply technical skills and work in collaboration with all trades, metallurgists and operators to install new sensors and optimize existing sensors.
  • Provide input to supervisor and team for continuous improvement and capital projects to improve safety and optimize equipment availability and production.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of upgrades and modifications that are made to all mill equipment, record all information daily on work order system.
  • Ensure targets and deadlines are met.
  • Other duties as required.

Successful candidates will have a Red Seal Instrument Technician/Engineering Technology certification or equivalent with five (5) years of experience in instrumentation control systems in a mining or industrial environment is required.

You will also demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Instrumentation abilities in both technical and operational settings
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, and conflict management skills
  • Computer software skills (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets etc.)
  • The ability to pass pre-employment medical/drug/alcohol screening and a criminal background check
